Layers, layers, and more layers. Candles, fireplaces, and Christmas twinkle lights not only give a special cozy warm glow but during the holidays makes it a little more magical. Think of it as a smell that reminds you of the holidays: cinnamon, caramel, popcorn, pine cones, and my personal favorite, cranberries.
Themes are a good place to start such as winter wonderland, rustic, possibly modern glitz and glam, formal maybe, just plan neutral, and character themes such as The Nutcracker, Disney World Princesses, Disneyworld, just Mickey Mouse, or maybe just maybe a dog theme if you’re into the ASPCA. And please don’t forget that you can mix these things according to your family’s taste and style. Lanterns are a very good idea. You can use small, medium, or big candles for holiday decor. You can put them inside or outside, use them on steps, mantles, table settings, and combine them with gifts or just holiday wrapped presents or just boxes. If they are going outside, they could also double as decoys for those problematic porch gift pirates 😯.You can also use candles, flowers, those twinkle lights with or without color and ornaments and combination to match your theme and color choices.
So, I have given you several tips, suggestions, and ideas to get you started in the right direction. Let’s talk about hiring somebody to help you with your outdoor decor. First tip: the earlier are you set up an appointment for next year and/or possibly still this year, the less you pay. Same goes for keeping the decorations up past New Year’s that cost less to take down as well. Speaking of outdoors, think twinkle lights, a musical Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, reindeer, snowmen, and don’t forget the nutcrackers. The mailbox swag seems to be an up-and-coming favorite again. Simple or ornate, real pine branches with bows and berries, and pine cones are a must for added personality.
I know this is a lot of information, but getting you started thinking as the holiday becomes closer and closer faster and faster. I like to try and get as many suggestions and ideas so that I can help and aid those of us (Yes, including me) that have not gotten started yet. LOL! Happy Holidays! I will have more holiday information and tips to share very soon. Be safe out there and Happy Holidays!
